Having studied Classics, Egyptology, history, papyrology and palaeography at Budapest and London, Csaba Láda obtained his doctorate in ancient history at the University of Cambridge in 1997. After a series of postdoctoral research positions at Oxford, Leuven, Hamburg, London, Vienna and Manchester, he taught ancient history and languages at Kent for many years, with interludes comprising a visiting professorship at the EPHE and a two-year Lise Meitner Research Fellowship at Vienna. His research interests are wide-ranging and include ancient and medieval manuscripts, ancient papyri and inscriptions and the social, cultural and intellectual history of the Graeco-Roman and Egyptian worlds.
